New Fabric… What now?

Hi everyone!

I thought I’d turn to you lovely guys and gals for a little advice. I was just given this very beautiful vintage voile from my aunt, and now I’m a bit stuck in knowing what to make!

I love the idea of a vintage pattern, but I’m very new to sewing so I don’t want to be over-adventurous and then end up wasting it. I would appreciate any suggestions, either here or on my blog Curves, Patterns and Pins where you can find more pictures and information.

Thanks in advance!

I was also thinking a blouse or some sort of top would be nice.

A Sencha blouse! I haven't made one but I hear they're pretty simple.

Wow, I love that fabric! I agree, a sencha would be great, the version with the keyhole.

I have about 5 yards of vintage voile like that…mine's white dots on orange. Talking about it makes me think I should get sewing with it while orange is still popular and we don't move onto a blue period anytime soon. I say make a dress if there's enough yardage.

Oh such wonderful ideas! You know I've seen the Sencha Blouse from Colette and it's really so pretty. I'll be sure to post my finished garment when I've made it, of course with a few muslins in between!
MB: white and orange sounds gorgeous. I'd love to see it! Reana

A shirt style dress with a slip underneath would look gorgeous and perfect for the summer ( try look for old Golden hands magazines or patterns) and you get funky home patterns too – ,making a sausage dog draft excluder right now, loving it!!
