McCalls 7522

February 17, 2011

With the help of some of my readers, I was able to complete this dress in a one-way directional plaid.   I picked up the 60’s pattern at a rummage sale, and the fabric is from my favorite antique store.

It was my first dress using one-way directional prints, and my first collar!  I had a little trouble with the side front bodice pieces.  I was trying to match up the stripes and it was not going well.  Some very talented commenters suggested I turn the piece on the bias and make it intentionally not match, as a design feature.  I’m glad I listened because I love how it turned out.
