Simplicity 1598 – from dress to cropped blouse

January 3, 2011
I’ve started 2011 as I intend to continue it, so here’s my first finished item of the year!

I took Simplicity 1598 and turned the 1940s dress into a cropped blouse instead – the dress is also underway. I swapped the closed-back for a buttoned-back instead and all in all I’m really happy with how it turned out. It’s something I will wear a lot as it fits well with my current wardrobe and general dress sense.

Many more photos can be found on my blog.

Do excuse my pictures, I’m in the process of getting used to being photographed in my hand sewn garment!
  1. I love this pattern! It is so cute. Don't be shy about the camera
because a dress/oufit always looks better on a person (sorry
Diana)…even if she is covering her face 🙂 Puts life into them.

    The apron is adobable too.

I tried to post this on your blog but I got a mail delivery failure to be approved.

You may want to check your e-mail is correct or maybe it is just a hiccup.

  2. Thanks Eleen, I just needed to approve your comment, but it's now showing on my blog.

I agree with you, clothes always do look better on a person, so I will attempt to get in front of the camera more often ;o)
