‘The Blues’ Resort Dress

November 30, 2010
I used a vintage sewing pattern from the 1970s, Simplicity 8442, to create a resort style dress. There was an issue of a gapping neckline and I tried to contain the problem by taking in the shoulder seams. Any suggestions on how I can fix the issue when I use the pattern again is much appreciated.

Thank you and have a great week!
  1. To solve the gaping neckline you can make a small dart on the neckline (between the shoulder and the centre front). Pin the dart out (on the pattern and this should help. You can also use stay tape to control the neckline if it still gapes.

    Cute dress!

  2. I remember seeing this on your blog! I love it just as much now as I did then. Great work, love your fabric choice!
