Sounds like a mess, but I like the result.
I started with a McCall’s pattern from 1957:
But I don’t like tight sleeves, so I added these pleated sleeves from the mid 1930s:
And I used a patterned cotton fabric from the early 40s so the resulting blouse looks like this:

The pleated sleeve is an interesting treatment and not one I've run across.
It certainly adds a nice looking and functional detail to your blouse.

Those sleeves are fabulous! I love the combination of them with the smaller collar and no pockets etc of the original – It makes it more of an eyecatching feature
