Vintage Sewing

Glad to be among people who appreciate "retro classics"

September 3, 2010

Hi .I am just getting back into sewing again from a long hiatus .I completed fashion design school in ’96
so don’t ask me what went wrong and how I ended up in the ugliness that the corporate world can be .
Short story I was miserable ! After my second pregnancy I realized that life was too short to continue
in something that did not make me happy .
I have had a love as long as I can remember for the 30’s and 40’s era. From a child I watched those old Turner Classic movies and admired the style and grace those women had in their highly structured and well thought of dresses. Not like the fashion we have today .My house is a haven of art deco and memorabilia from the past.
The loves in my life I would say are my son ,husband and my vintage collections .Including my vinatge sewing machine collection!
My blog I have started .I will be posting more of my sewing soon , as I just recently started with my vintage machine collection first

My next project is this wonderful pattern I found ! A classic wedding dress.
No .. I am not getting married ,but it is so stunning I just have to sew it 🙂

  1. That is a gorgeous vintage wedding dress pattern! I can see why you are inspired to make that dress, even though there is no need for it. I stopped designing wedding dresses 3 years ago, but if I come across any wedding gown patterns like the one you have, or something similar, I might go back to making wedding dresses again. Have fun making it!
