Vintage Sewing

late post!

July 8, 2010

i forgot to post my dress for the 4th of july! here it is:

stars and stripes baby baby!

i made it from a butterick reproduction pattern 5136
i shortened the length so i could wear it in the rain, but it came out great and was really easy to put together! i had this patten for a while, and am very glad i got to use it finally! there is more on my blog!

  1. I love this – the design and the material – all American indeed. I like the marriage of fabric and design. It works well. Hope you had a good 4th July in it!

  2. Does anyone else think of the lyrics to "Lydia the Tattoed Lady?"

"She once swept an admiral right off his feet
The ships on her hips made his heart skip a beat!"

    (love, love, love the fabric).
