Vintage Sewing

A Summer Ball Dress and an Introduction

July 18, 2010

My name’s Elena, but everyone calls me Len. I’m an English Lit and German student bitten by the sewing bug! Inspired by the likes of Gertie and her Better Blog For Sewing, I’ve found myself falling completely and utterly in love with vintage patterns, leading to a regular lurk on Sew Retro and a fair few hours scouring Etsy and the web for some of the fabulous vintage patterns you use for your wonderful creations. Vintage fashion fascinates me, though I’m no history boffin who can tell you when these silhouettes were en vogue, so I’m still learning as I go.

I’m looking forward to sharing my creations with you all, and in the meantime I’d like to share one of my first forays into vintage sewing; a dress that I made for my University’s Summer Ball, made from two vintage sewing patterns. You can read more about it here and see more photos at my blog Can’t Say Strawberry.

Happy sewing!
