A little departure from using vintage patterns and an exciting step for me – I’ve taken my first steps into the world of designing a dress for myself. I’m back at night school and I’m learning pattern drafting amongst other things and this is the first draft of my vintage inspired tea dress. Credit must be given here to my tutor Maria for her help in this!
The inspiration for the design and the eventual choice of print is the notion of vintage tea dresses in the summertime. This will be a light summer dress in a pretty floral (I think).
Over the next few weeks I’ll be writing about my journey in creating this dress from start to finish and you can read more about it and follow my progress over on my blog.
I’d be interested in your thoughts on the design and any suggestions for vintage fabrics and prints.
Best wishes , Charlie x
I love the design and would absolutely wear something like that!
Perfect design for a tea dress and a floaty floral would be gorgeous. Take a look at NewVintageLadys post on the DuBarry catalogue. It has a few similar dresses and might give you an idea of the type of print to use.
