1950s

Goldfinch & Eagle

Hi there,

I’m so thrilled to be posting on Sew Retro! Sewing is my passion and vintage things are a good runner-up! I teach textiles and make for myself. I’m trying to start a business selling sewing patterns, as I find contemporary commercial sewing patterns so un-inspiring. Vintage sewing patterns, however, really float my boat! The illustrations alone are works of art. I would so love to be a girl in the 1940s/ 1950s. What an era…
Please have a look at my photos below and visit my blog, Goldfinch & Eagle.
More photos of the dress being constructed here.

  1. The detail stitching is fabulous. Wonderful crisp tailored look. Love how you have made it updated with the NOW necklace. You have me grinning ear to ear.

  2. That dress is incredible! If I had a job which required more than work-casual clothing I would want a wardrobe full of those. Great job.

  3. Dang it! I might have to make this dress now. I love it, and it would be such a good work outfit. I just have to add it to my list of projects, I guess!
