I need sewing tips from more people more experienced. I am making these trousers:
Here is what I need help with:
How far down is too far down for the crotch? In this picture, I don’t feel it looks too low, but it’s about 1 1/2 inches from where pants normally sit on me.I also had issues with the zipper and waistband as well as the darts above the buttocks. I have more questions and pictures of the project on my blog.
This might be helpful…

If you're wondering if it's the pattern or because of something you did that the crotch is low, it's the pattern! Crotches in pants in the 30s and 40s were a lot deeper than they are now. If it makes you uncomfortable you can raise it but otherwise they look good as is. 🙂
I was just going to say that the crotches were lower then because they didnt have our form fitting aesthetic then!
I'm no expert at all, but I think it sits at the right spot. It's part of that retro cut, IMO. They fit really nicely!
i made those and had the same problem. i ended up taking a few inches on the front pieces of the leg- towards the crotch, and it fixed that. the darts on the behind i ended up making a little longer and with a slight curve… it took a LOT of muslin!!! good luck!
It´s supposed to sit lower than crotches of these days. The thought of the pesky beaver was unbareable back in the days, so the outline was camoufoulaged with a low crotch. Go with it, it´s era- appropriate. And mighty comfortable too. Been there, done that.
Thank you ladies, for all of the advice and tips! I greatly appreciate it!
