an out-of-this-world men’s robe

I never got around to blogging this cool robe I made for my husband for Xmas:

space robe

It’s from a 1957 Simplicity men’s robe pattern:

Simplicity 2312

With dressing gown, towelling bathrobe and smoking jacket versions!! I made the dressing gown view from some JoAnn’s flannel. It was a dream to sew, he loves his robe, and my 5-year-old loved picking out the fabric. I seriously recommend this pattern — I will be making every version eventually! More photos and details on my blog!

  • That is one very cool dressing gown! And I'll second how good that pattern is. I've used it to make my own husband a couple of dressing gowns – a tweed winter one with purple piping, and summer red linen one with white spots. The winter one I made is fabulous, if I say so myself, but your one is equally fabulous!
