preparing for spring!

February 15, 2010

So the week of giant snowstorms in DC really had me ready for spring. I decided to start preparing by making a new dress! (ignore the unhemmed edge of the skirt…)

I made this dress from Advance pattern 4889, a lovely 40s style! The fabric is a lovely, flowing 40s rayon, perfect for this type of dress!

One of my favorite design elements in 40s clothing is scalloped edged. I just love the scalloped sleeves and scalloped neckline on this dress:
Oh and I’ve finally crossed the sewing threshold of bound buttonholes and now I’m totally in love! Tey give such a neat, finished look.

  1. I love it.. you look so adorable…You make me ready for spring too I just bough a few dress patterns but want to wait to start them because I'm 9 months pregnant and can't try my projects on. Great job and I love your blog:-)

  2. I just bought a bunch of summery fabrics too since I'm also craving spring. What a lovely dress – the fabric matches the style perfectly!
