Hi, I was wondering if any of you have ever sewn with hair canvas? I am making a wool cape, with a vintage pattern and it wants the interfacing to be sewn-in hair canvas. Looking online there is light and medium weight; I will request swatches, but I was hoping someone has some experience with it!
Thanks
Molly
I have never sewn with hair canvas, but I know that Gertie at "Gertie's New Blog for Better Sewing" was making a winter coat and talked a lot about hair canvas and padstitching, etc. and has vlogs on her coat making. Maybe this would help. Here is the link to her first vlog on the coat:

Molly .- maybe this can help
Hi – hair canvas is lovely stuff for tailoring – you can really sculpt with it by steaming over "hams" etc. The hair sticks to woolen fabric so you can achieve a really tailored look.
The weight would depend on your fabric, if it is a very heavy / dense wool fabric go for a medium canvas, otherwise I think the light is better.
If you are shaping and steaming with it though – be prepared – it can smell like a horse!
cheers, Lyndell
thanks!
