Vintage Sewing

My 2nd college sewing project

October 10, 2009

Obviously I realize that this isn’t an ideal picture. It wasn’t an ideal day. Made this one in an evening… It’s a 50s pattern, Butterick 7510, from Patterns From The Past no doubt. I actually finished some seams and made my first attempt at a hand pick-stitched zipper. Of course nobody can tell, and it’s a side zipper which is not where that application would usually be used, but I had fun. I’ve made this dress three times now, and as it is one of the few patterns I have with me at college, I’m sure I’ll be seeing a lot more of it.
Bonus tidbit: I’m majoring in organ performance and fashion design, but I can’t start the latter until my sophomore year. Can’t wait!
  1. I am glad you have time to sew at college. Are you a C&T major? Your dress is really neat, and you are learning some fine skills. Glad to hear of another young person learning to sew. Have fun!
