Here’s another dress entry into the Mad Men competition. When I first saw this emerald green wool crepe, I thought “Joan would look fantastic in that color!” Alas, Joan is a fictional character, so I had to buy it for myself instead. I think she’d approve though.
I made this from Simplicity 3673, which is a reissued pattern. Here’s the original on the right:
I had to do a lot of futzing to get the fit right – it looked like a sack when I first put it on. Joan would not be having any of that!
I ended up doing even more fitting and making it in a red doubleknit, another great color for Ms. Holloway.
I wrote more about fitting this pattern on my blog. Come on by!
When it comes to Mad Men I have no clue which of the women best suits me. I want all of their clothes. Including Clara's apron!
Your dresses are beautiful! 🙂
Lovely dresses! The color of the first one is gorgeous!
I made this dress also in red and it happens to be one of my favorites! I hope you enjoy it as much as I have
I love both of these dresses on you but, wow, isn't red your colour! Stunning.
Both dresses look fab on you, you wear them well.
This dress is very suited for you! You look fab and the colors are great too!
I look it, it looks great and really suits you.
I have this pattern, and have been hesitant to make it because I was sure that it wouldn't look as good as on the envelope. You've proven me wrong! Great job.
