Vintage Sewing

Vogue 884

June 30, 2009

Definitely my biggest project ever… It is finished now, but in this picture the hem is yet to be done. I entered it in the 4-H fair this morning or I would have the finished pictures.
It’s tafetta with black flocked roses from JoAnn’s (JoAnn’s? Really?) I added pockets on the side seams and lined the whole thing since it seemed rather odd to only line the bottom back skirt.
Not much else to say other than, I love it and it’s the most incredible pattern ever. 🙂

Update: It recieved champion in the formal class and is going to state! *I take that back, it is not going to state. APPAENTLY champion is *not* first place, A with an asterisc is first place, so it isn’t going anywhere and it is second place.

  1. I like all your projects, but wow, this is really something! I'm sure people will love it at the fair. How does one find your blog, the link in the sidebar doesn't work?

  2. Oh I apologize about the blog thing. I don't actually have one (or at least not a public one) I don't post much about my sewing there anyway.

  3. You look absolutely amazing in this dress. It is very stunning. Your work is impeccable.

Maybe you could consider starting just a sewing blog since you sew so much; then you could have an online journal of all of your creations. Love seeing all of your work. You are an excellent seamtress.

I wish you great success at the 4-H Fair.

    Regards,

    Trudy

  6. Just wonderful! It is great to see that dress made. Congrats on getting it done so quickly! I love seeing how my customers work with the pattern I sell them!

  7. Lovely pattern!
I'm going to echo what everyone else said… it looks wonderful, great job!

Best of luck at the 4-H fair!

  8. Did you win the pattern on ebay auction? I think I was bidding against you if so, lol. Absolutely amazing, your work is always gorgeous!!

  9. I have been looking for that pattern FOREVER! I love the way it looks. You did an amazing job. If you could tell me where i might find a pattern please do.. I would love to put something that beautiful together for my wedding. Please contact me at

    I would really appreciate it.

  10. Hello. I love that dress and my daughter is thinking of having me make it for her May 2011 wedding. I'm wondering if you still have the pattern and are interested in selling it? If you don't want to sell it, would you be willing to make a copy of the back of the pattern envelope? I am thinking of reconstructing it from another pattern. I have seen the back online but it is difficult to read.

Thank you. Here is my email: pbbhome@yahoo. com

  11. Dear Anan:

I am so happy I found you. My name is Tonie, I am 47 years old and live in Windermere, FL. When I was a kid growing up in the 60's my Mom was a Master Seamstress and made all our clothes for us. The Pattern you have on this site and your Blog you made for yourself is the exact same Pattern my Mom made for herself when I was a kid. My sister and I were in awe of my Mother every time she would wear this dress when my Father took her out dancing. We thought our Mom was secretly Cinderella. LOL

Tragically my Mom passed away in 1980 while I was serving in the U.S. Army. When I got back home, I found that most of my Mom's stuff had been lost. My sister and I always remembered that dress and how beautiful my Mom looked in it every time we reminisced about her. About 10 years ago, when we were teaching ourselves how to sew we set out on a mission to find this pattern, but to no avail. It seems that every time we did come across it, it had already been sold. I am writing to ask you if you still own this Vintage Vogue Pattern 884 and if you would be willing to sell the pattern or if it would be possible to make me a copy of the pattern and instructions? I would be more than happy to pay you for your time, effort and supplies. Please let me know. Thank you for taking the time to listen and for any help you can give me. Sincerely, Tonie Windermere, FL

  12. Wow… I have not been checking these comments! Sorry all! This is four copies of the pattern if I count correctly… Guess I should do something! Stay tuned.

  13. Hi Anan,
this is the dress of my dreams: now that I see it worn by you, I'm sure!!:)
My wedding is in September 2011, so if you only could send me a copy of the pattern, it would be great!!
please, let me know: my email is elena.raciti@gmail.com
    thanks a lot!

  14. I too am getting married next month and would love this pattern. Looked and looked online with no luck. Any chance of getting a copy?

    Thanks,
    Stacie Benefield

  15. Hi Stacie,

I paid $150 for this pattern. What are you willing to pay in advance so I can start work on it without wasting my time? I'm extremely busy getting ready for school and a wedding of my own so this is a necessary question.

    -Anna
