Vintage Sewing

Simplicity 2614

June 5, 2009

The perfect lightweight summer top. This vintage fabric has such a fine hand. I only managed to have enough by piecing the facing.
I really enjoyed this pattern. It went together with no issues. I can’t say that about all modern patterns. I really do find that the vintage patterns (generally) have less fit issues.
I also found this pattern true to the picture on the pattern envelope. Don’t you just hate it when you’ve finished a piece and when comparing it to the photo on the front of the pattern something such as the neckline just doesn’t seem the same. Why?? Too many times I’ve completed my project only to find that the neckline is too low, gaping, etc., etc. I’ve even had the thought that it’s not the same garment at all. So… I only use the picture as an inspiration. To get to the pattern details I always look at the line drawings. Check the details, make sure that you are getting the pattern that you think you are.
Case in point and small irritation, I did not find that this pattern is as flared on the bottom as the line drawing shows. Just sayin

  1. I love the shirt, and what a great multi pattern pattern. So may choices, I don't know if I'd be able to make up my mind.
