Lounge Dress / Nightie

May 10, 2009

I’m going to Surfer’s Paradise for a couple of weeks at the end of the month and amongst other things I wanted to make a night gown / lounge dress suitable for sleeping and sitting out on the balcony in!

Originally I was going to use butterick 3759, but I haven’t yet scanned it and I couldn’t stand to cut the pattern until I had – then I realised that Burda’s Danielle dress was just very similar. I created a slightly modern twist by adding add a shelf bra so that the top sat perfectly. This is made from a lovely soft stretch cotton and I plan on making another this week – though I’ll omit the band and skirt darts this time and instead ease the skirt in. I’m very happy with the results and can’t begin to describe how comfy it is!

  1. Hi there,

Cute dress! I just wanted to ask you a quick question on your dressmaker dummy. I have been looking for one and came by the Singer model. Have you had any problems with it? Do you think it's a good form fit?

    Thanks in advance,

    Kat
