Square Dance Style Dress

March 28, 2009
Veronica Darling’s post today on the ever-so-lovely dress she made from a bedsheet reminded me that I have a recent project to post.

I’ve always loved the look of vintage square dance dresses, and when an old bedsheet with a western-looking design came into my possession I decided to give the project a try. I didn’t have a pattern, so I just looked at the covers of various vintage patterns online to get an idea of how they go together and hoped it would turn out all right. 🙂

One of the fun things about sewing with bedsheets are the borders that they often have…. perfect for using as the hem of the skirt!

  1. Clare, I’m so glad that you’ve posted a recent project. I’ve missed your postings. I love how artsy you always do your photos. They are so beautiful and nastalgic. I hope you post more often. I love all of the things you make.

  2. That dress is just gorgeous!!! Love the photography/styling, too. You look just like Jennifer Jones in Duel In the Sun.
