Veronica Darling’s post today on the ever-so-lovely dress she made from a bedsheet reminded me that I have a recent project to post.
I’ve always loved the look of vintage square dance dresses, and when an old bedsheet with a western-looking design came into my possession I decided to give the project a try. I didn’t have a pattern, so I just looked at the covers of various vintage patterns online to get an idea of how they go together and hoped it would turn out all right. 🙂
One of the fun things about sewing with bedsheets are the borders that they often have…. perfect for using as the hem of the skirt!
Fantastic dress! I love the sleeves!
Wow – you made that with no pattern? That’s amazing! It looks great!
I love it!
That is very pretty! Kudos. 🙂
Clare, I’m so glad that you’ve posted a recent project. I’ve missed your postings. I love how artsy you always do your photos. They are so beautiful and nastalgic. I hope you post more often. I love all of the things you make.
Do you have a blog?
That dress is just gorgeous!!! Love the photography/styling, too. You look just like Jennifer Jones in Duel In the Sun.
Adorable! Just gorgeous…
Great job.
Only you could make bed sheets look so good! What a sweet dress! Great work!
Wow! This is amazing. I found this post while I was researching my vintage square dance pattern roundup. Thought you might like it!
