Vintage Sewing

Vintage Housedress

February 16, 2009

Vintage Simplicity (no number or date), sewed up quickly and easily. Fabric cost $7.50 thanks to Joann’s great sale this weekend. Vintage buttons from the stash. My husband loves it and since it is super comfortable and feminine, I’ll be on the lookout for more cheap but pretty fabric to make more!

  1. This is really great! I have a similar pattern, but have never made it up fearing it would be too bulky when belted. Seeing yours, with no bulk at all makes me want to make it now! What sort of fabric did you use? Was it quite thin?

  2. Oh this is lovely! I’d wear this. It’s way more interesting than jeans and t-shirt. I’m off to search out this pattern!

  3. The dress looks great! A lot of those patterns can turn out super frumpy but this one turned out really stylish. On a side note, your foyer is amazing, great floor.

  4. I sew want and need that pattern, I really do need a good day dress pattern for cleaning days when the dungarees are in the laundry. Nice blog and good sewing skills. I just bought two vintage skirt patterns and I am going to have to intepret them into my size, wish me luck!

  5. This is a great pattern. I have it and haven’t made it up yet. You have inspired me! I might re-fashion a vintage sheet this way!

  6. Nice sewing! I love the big pockets. When I’m cleaning I like to have pockets to stash all the bits of crap that get left on surfaces like hair bands and receipts. This pattern looks perfect for that!
