Vintage Sewing

Vintage 1960s (?) dress

January 8, 2009

This is one of my first successful attempts at resizing a vintage pattern. The measurements weren’t too far from my own so it took minimal resizing but I’m pleased with how it came out. The print is actually stars, though it is kind of hard to tell from the picture.

I do not know the manufacturer or the actual year. I’m just guessing that it is from the 1960s.

  1. Good for you! It looks fantastic. It looks like the 60s to me too. I was a teenager then and this is the style of dress my grandmother sewed for Sunday wear. HTH

  2. Oh, that’s lovely! I have several of those kind of mail-order patterns, in that same size range; I’ve been hoping to see one made up so I could find out how well they go together!

    What a great dress!

  3. Oh-so cute! I love the fabric you chose, and those star-shaped buttons really add a special touch. Great work!

  4. This is so cute! I Love RED! The rolled collar turned out great. Would be adorable with a vintage little white sweater this Spring.

  5. That is such a cute dress! I love the scalloped detailing on the front edge and the princess seams give lots of opportunities for fit!

I really love the old newspaper patterns – they provide so much style in that little envelope!

  6. Thanks Ladies you are very sweet 🙂 Spring get here already! I was really pleased as this one went together with a minimum of swears and tears. I agree, I love these newspaper patterns.

  7. I love this! Great choice of fabric and buttons. The collar feature is great too. I have a mail order pattern too that I’ve yet to tackle, but now I feel inspired!
