Making Christmas……

November 21, 2008
As a lot of you already know, this awesome Claire McCardell dress pattern can be found on EvaDress, multisized.
I am pretty sure it is going to be my holiday party dress.
Is anyone else planning on making this dress next month too? Or do you all have ideas for holiday dresses for Dressember? I am so excited to see everyone’s creations…and I would love to see other’s takes on this little number.
I’m getting the fabric today!
  1. Wow! I'm recently in possession of "Claire McCardell: Redefining Modernism" & can't get enough of the photos. I can't wait to see your dress!

  2. Yep! Got the pattern from Xandra at EvaDress just this week – and bought the fabric for it on Friday! Might have t wait til my Christmas holiday with Mum to sew it though…

  3. Well….I ended up getting a dark red crepe AND a green cotton/poly jersey. Not sure which one I am going to use….I really wanted something that drapes nicely but also gives the bow some shape, so I am not sure what in the heck i am going to do. Starting the muslin tomorrow, and when that is finished I will decide!

  4. I've got two dresses in the works right now, one vintage & one modern, that'll be worn during the holiday season. The vintage one is an Advance American Designer pattern by Anne Fogarty for a dress with deep V neckline (front & back), full skirt (with pockets!) and short or long sleeves and an optional dickey. I'm making the version with the short sleeves, and I'm using a *fabulous* Michael Miller cotton that is black and white striped with small fleurs de lis of the opposite colours in the stripes. The stripes will be mitred at centre front and back on the bodice and skirt. Ambitious project for me, but I got it cut out yesterday!.

  5. Had been trying to get hold of that pattern for ages , but my purse wasn’t up to the fortunes it always went for. Dressaday mentioned it was available through EvaDress a couple of weeks, and I’m now the proud owner of a copy — in my size what’s more. I just love the internet! Would be fun to make it up for Christmas as long as I can find the right fabric in my stash (I have a self imposed ban on any new fabric!). Would also love to see/hear how other people get along with it.
