Vintage Vogue Ventures

November 3, 2007

I made a top from Vogue Vintage Re-release pattern V2859. It was more difficult than i had first expected (“Oh ho, it only has four pattern pieces, it won’t be that hard”). There were a couple of details that i found lacking in the instructions, like how to finish the shoulders where the back piece meets the neckline. I fumbled my way through.

I also added a peplum/yoke around the bottom as i found the finished shirt slightly too short. I will leave all the navel gazing to Britney Spears (Oh please woman, put it away!).

Anyhoo, I am pretty happy with the finished product though and will definitely make it again, maybe from a nice floppy silk.

  1. That is Fantastic! What a cool pattern. You did a great job! This will be my next shirt project. Did you review it a Pattern Review?

  2. I think that shirt is fabulous and I would never have thought twice about it from the pattern cover, but it makes up very nicely.

  3. thanks guys, i really appreciate your lovely comments.

i will have a go at reviewing it on pattern review (I have never done that before).

the fabric is really cool. it is from spotlight (aust. fabric chain store) and is cotton. it was also pretty cheap. i just love the paint like pattern, it reminds me of some of those great abstract prints from the 50’s.

  4. Gorgeous and you’ve done a great job with it. I love the front, but the back is really lovely. That one’s been wating awhile, maybe it’ll move up the list.
